Dear Family,
Today is Wednesday, April 15, 2020; and, it is Day 4 of Week One in our Counting toward Pentecost.
This year Day 4 coincides with the Last Day of Unleavened Bread. In Leviticus 23:6-8 God commands a holy convocation on the 1st day and the 7th day in the Feast of Unleavened Bread.
Leviticus 23:6-8 (6) And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread. (7) In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein. (8) But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
Clearly, the Bible inextricably connects the Feast of Unleavened Bread with the Feast of Weeks, or Pentecost. It occurs in a number of places. Notice the linking of the festivals in Deuteronomy. During the celebration of the Feast of Weeks, God commanded the Israelites to remember their slavery in Egypt.
Deuteronomy 16:9-12 (9) Seven weeks shalt thou number unto thee: begin to number the seven weeks from such time as thou beginnest to put the sickle to the corn. (10) And thou shalt keep the feast of weeks unto the LORD thy God with a tribute of a freewill offering of thine hand, which thou shalt give unto the LORD thy God, according as the LORD thy God hath blessed thee: (11) And thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to place his name there. (12) And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt: and thou shalt observe and do these statutes.
Have a great feast day, and rejoice as we celebrate this Last Day of Unleavened Bread, the day when God took His people safely through the Red Sea. The passage through the Red Sea represented a baptism, a death, a burial, and a resurrection. It was a day of great deliverance! The ancient Israelites were completely out of the bondage of Egypt!
Happy LDUB. God bless you!
