Dear Family,
Today is Monday, May 4, 2026. Today is Day 30 and Day 2 of Week 5 in our Count to Pentecost.
To be a Merciful and Faithful High Priest for us, Jesus learned what it means to be obedient while suffering as a human. This was an experience that gave Him all He needed to be complete, having all of the necessary qualities and characteristics for His perfection.
Hebrews 5:7-9 (7) Who in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto Him that was able to save Him from death, and was heard in that He feared; (8) Though He were a Son, yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered; (9) And being made perfect, He became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him;
Hebrews 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
These verses indicate that Jesus felt the pulls of sin (tempted in all points). He experienced them and learned what it is like to be a vulnerable human and He overcame those temptations by crying out to God. He learned the meaning of obedience which is choosing to do God’s will and not His own, even where there is great temptation. Jesus was made “Perfect” through suffering.
