Withstanding God?

Peter explained to the Jerusalem Church how God lead him to baptize the first gentile Christians.  Part of his concluding statement in Acts 11:17 was “could I withstand God?”

Jesus taught many lessons when he was training the apostles.  Lessons that Churches of God need to remember.  Listen to the Sabbath sermon, for further explanation.

How is Your Prayer Life Progressing?

Prayer plays such an important part in our relationship with God, it is important to periodically take a good inventory of how our prayer life is progressing.

Here are a few suggestions to help us all do just that!

  • Realize that prayer is a great way to submit ourselves to God and to express our devotion to Him.
  • Become more deeply aware of how much help, protection, and guidance God actually provides for us every day, and all the time.
  • Also realize, the more we pray, the more assured we can be that God’s help, protection, and guidance are active in our lives.  The less we will be second-guessing ourselves in troublesome situations.
  • Through an active prayer life, we can be sure that God is our Problem Solver as well as our Generous Provider!

We certainly want God to hear our prayers, just as the Psalmist prayed in Psalm 54:2 “Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.”

SOME CHOOSE TO BELIEVE THERE IS NO GOD!

Too many in our society have CHOSEN to believe there is no God.  How sad for them!  The BIBLE SPEAKS to those willingly ignorant individuals in Romans through the Apostle Paul. Those people are in fact totally without excuse in their foolish belief, because all that exists testifies to God’s glory and goodness. Creation itself is God’s witness of His existence.

ROMANS 1:18-22 (KJV) (18) For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; (19) Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. (20) For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: (21) Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. (22) Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.
