Day 32, Day 4 of Week 5 – Wednesday, May 14, 2025

Dear Family,

Today is Wednesday, May 14, 2025. This is Day 4 of Week 5 in our counting toward Pentecost. It is our 32nd day of Counting.

In a desolate place called Horeb, in a desert wilderness several thousand years ago, God told Moses to smite a rock. If we look only at the surface information of this incident we can miss important spiritual truths. The New Testament explains the important spiritual connection between the rock of Horeb and the Rock, our Savior and Messiah.

Exodus 17:6 Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

2 Corinthians 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

It was at the command of God that Moses struck the rock. And, what happened to our Savior some 2000 years ago was in the will of God, also. The Bible says it pleased God to bruise Him.

Isaiah 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He hath put Him to grief: when Thou shalt make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand.

Revelation 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship Him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

God knew what it would take to work out His plan of salvation for each of us. He committed to paying the price from the “foundation of the world.” And, God has never drawn back from His purpose.

Once Moses struck the Rock, life giving water flowed. Now that the Rock of our salvation has been struck, the spiritual water of life flows freely.

May we all pray that we will thirst for this LIVING WATER; and, that we will be filled! Perhaps each time we drink physical water in the next few days, we can pause to remember our LIVING WATER and thank God for the marvelous preparations He has already made to save us.

God bless us all to drink freely!
